It has now become a customary event for the St Davids Peninsula Tourist Association to organise a 'Sand Church' Competition on Whitesands Beach near St Davids, during one day in the summer holidays.
Arrive early!
Entry into the competition is free but unfortunately
has to be limited to the first 60 groups who enrol on the beach on the
day. Each group will be allocated a 15 ft sq part of the beach. Only the
sand from within this area is allowed to be used to build a religious
structure. Construction digs in at 11.30 am and judging will be at
3:30 pm.
4 Categories . .
The Sand Church
Competition is split into 4 Categories with the winner of each category
receiving £25 in prize money.
*Note: the organisation of the winning Group entry will receive the prize money.
Judging at 3:30 pm Judging will be done by 3 independent people and takes place at 3:30 pm. They will announce the winners who will each receive their £25 prize money.
Remember that when the sun shines your skin is at risk and your religious structure will crumble. So pack sun cream and don't forget a water spray to keep the sand moist!
